The Internet and Mobile Media concentration emphasizes the writing and production of emerging forms of episodic and stand alone content including mobisodes, webisodes, interactive and viral video. The program is designed to foster the multi-skilled generalist or auteur; able to write, direct, produce and edit. For more than thirty years The Columbia College Television Department has educated students in a traditional broadcast television format with concentrations in Writing and Producing, Directing and Production and Post Production/Editing. Our sketch comedy show Out On a Limb was nominated for an EMMY in 2005 and our Sitcom, Debbies Got Class was also nominated in 2010. In 2007 we began developing our Internet and Mobile Media concentration to address the changing industry both creatively and technologically. The result was the innovative Internet and Mobile Media concentration. Our first web series, ‘Sexperts’, www.sexpertstheshow,com, was the #1 Comedy Channel on YouTube the week it premiered and our second webseries, The Rent, www.therent.tv, was nominated for a digital media EMMY in 2010.
